Ongoing work to ensure driver safety and sustainability at NHS Fleet Solutions has been recognised.

NHS Fleet Solutions, the country’s leading public sector salary sacrifice scheme are finalists in the UK Fleet Champions Awards 2023.

The team has been shortlisted for the ‘Public Sector Driver Safety Award’ for their efforts to raise awareness around safe driving. As well as the ‘Sustainable Journeys Award’, for their work to reduce carbon emissions by promoting electric vehicles that are available to lease via the scheme.

Working with over 350 organisations, including councils, local authorities, universities and around 40% of the UK’s NHS trusts, offering exclusive special offers on all major car brands, NHS Fleet Solutions can play a large role in influencing the public sector.

Since the start of the year, 90% of all new orders through Fleet are for fully electric cars (zero emissions) or ULEVs (ultra low). In addition, understanding that one of the barriers for people going electric is concern around range and charging options, NHS Fleet Solutions also offers drivers the chance to have a home charging point installed.

Employees have peace of mind when leasing through Fleet, thanks to their offer of fully comprehensive insurance for themselves and up to 4 additional drivers, routine servicing, breakdown cover, and more included in their monthly cost.

David Hanson, Managing Director of NHS Fleet Solutions, said: “Our goal is to ensure NHS and other public-sector staff have affordable access to cars for their work and personal lives. However, we are also very conscious of the environmental impact of petrol and diesel vehicles, as well as the importance of driver safety.

“We now have more than 45,000 colleagues on the road currently, with around half driving fully electric vehicles, and we want to continue to grow that figure further.”

The UK Fleet Champions Awards is run by Global Fleet Champions, a not-for-profit global campaign. The awards celebrate the hard work and dedication of fleet organisation striving to prevent road accidents and reduce pollution. The ceremony is due to take place on Tuesday 10th October, Leeds.
