A new autonomous concept vehicle has been revealed…

Nissan has unveiled a new people carrier that is fully electric and fully autonomous, designed for long-distance road trips.

The Hyper Tourer concept car is one of three new models that will be showcased at the Japan Mobility Show this month.

Powering the Hyper Tourer is Nissan's e-4ORCE all-wheel-drive system and a solid-state battery, combined with a low centre of gravity, these three elements give the vehicle flat acceleration and deceleration.

It has a passenger-centric interior that enables the front seats to be rotated so those travelling together can do so face-to-face. The car also has an AI system that can monitor your key biometrics - such as heart rate, breathing, and perspiration - and automatically select complementary music and adjust the lighting to fit your mood.

The Hyper Tourer is pitched as a vehicle that “re-envisions the group road trip by combining the comfort of a luxurious living room with the convenience of a passenger van—all contained in a stylish and futuristic package.”

Although this concept is many years away from production, this vehicle shows Nissan is thinking about an innovative future.
